Gigi O’Dea is owner of Memory Portraits by Gigi and has been in business for almost 15 years in the Sarasota/Bradenton area.  Being a Neonatal Intensive care nurse for over 20 years, it is a natural fit that the focus of her business is photographing newborns.  She retired from nursing in 2017 to concentrate her energy on her business.

She is well known in her area as she has over a hundred images on display at Sarasota Memorial Hospital and in doctors offices throughout the area.  She has worked closely with charities such as the March of Dimes photographing national campaigns for them and has worked with The

American Academy of Pediatrics on multiple occasions providing images for their publications.  Her work has also been featured in various magazines such as PPA, and various nursing journals.

Gigi has a passion to create unique newborn portraits that stand out.  She is also very passionate about competing.  She has been awarded Photographer of the Year at Bay Professional Photographer Association 6 times and has placed in the top ten the last Four years at the FPP state competition, This past year she was awarded both Photographer and Artist of the Year at FPP convention.  In 2018, she also placed 4th overall high score at SEPPA, with her image “Propelled by Love” placing second in the child portrait category.  And in 2019, she had won 1st and 3rd place in the Childrens portrait category at SEPPA.

Lastly, she started competing at the International Print Competition only the last four years.  The past two years she has had images nominated for a Grand Imaging award by making the top ten in the Children’s portrait category.  This past year, she won first place with her image titled “So Happy Together”.  Gigi’s attention to detail and elevating her craft is evident in her achievements.

Gigi is a Master Photographer, Certified Professional Photographer, and has her Florida Degree of Photographic Excellence from Florida Professional Photographers.
